  • Very good breakfast and Buffet

A stay here is pure luxury. The grand sea-view room starts at around 20,000 rupees per night with vintage furniture and a spacious bathroom. It’s all marble and includes a massive bathtub, a spacious basin area, and a separate shower cubicle complete with Forest Essentials toiletries. A shower here is an experience in itself.

Also, here we will have a wardrobe and a dressing area in an old-world charming bedroom. There is also a wide headboard, a side table, a working desk, a minibar, and a tea counter as well. What is remarkable is the view behind. Sea-view rooms offer stunning scenes of the Gateway of India or the Arabian Sea.

If you are lucky, your room will have both. As a welcome guest, they even offer complimentary fruits, Indian snacks like soya sticks and poha chibra, macarons, and chocolate-coated nuts. Another thing that I have to suggest is the breakfast buffet. Don’t miss it because it is such a great spread. Another buffet experience you don’t want to miss here is the high tea at Sea Lounge. This is undoubtedly the best sunset view of Mumbai, and the buffet is indulgence in itself.

Golden Dragon restaurant here is the best for Asian food. You can pick your food choices but don’t miss the date pancake. This hotel is a prominent landmark, and anyone who comes to Mumbai definitely wants to catch a glimpse of it. I also highly recommend a walk down the Gateway at night and watching the Taj light up beautifully. If you are getting a room here, then try and get one with a view of the Gateway of India, and you will be mesmerized.

Want to have the perfect retreat after a day of exploring the picturesque surroundings of Mumbai? Then Taj Land’s End Bandra Hotel can be the perfect choice for you. This luxury hotel in the Bandra area marks the end of Bandstand, which is called Land’s End since it’s all Arabian Sea after here. It is perfect for leisure and business travelers.

What I am sharing with you is a luxurious sea-view room which costs approximately rupees 16,000 a night, and a view from here is nothing short of spectacular. I feel this is the closest you can get to see a sea view in Mumbai. Especially during sunset, the view is sheer gold. I mean if this isn’t golden art at its best, then what is? The record of the room spells luxury, a slightly edgy contemporary look, and a bathroom as big as this.

I mean, this is also the grandest bathroom inside a luxury stay. As for my experience, not just the room, even the coffee area called Atrium Lounge is a vibe. The who’s who of Mumbai travelers, business people, you will see them all here, and there is a certain old-world charm to this lounge. You have a high tea menu which you can even enjoy from the comfort of your room, but I’d recommend staying back if you love live music; it gives you the complete and relaxing feel. And so does a sunset. Isn’t it? If you love good Indian food, then head to Masala Bay.

I think they also do a tasting menu, and that’s like a complete Masala Bay experience. What I recommend is their appetizers and the dal makhni. If you love Asian food, then head to Ming Yang. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the city, and they do offer authentic Asian cuisine. They also have some dishes which suit the Indian palate. You can enjoy a couple of fantastic meals here. If you are getting a room here, then get one with a view of the sea. The expanse of the water will leave you stunned.

3. Trident Nariman Point

  • Good breakfast

One can enjoy the view from Trident Rooftop, Air India Building, the stadium, Taj Mahal, Arabian Sea view, and Queen’s Necklace, a stock exchange and commercial district view of Mumbai. So all in all, this is where you get to see the essence of south Mumbai. I highly recommend going up to the last floor, the 33rd floor, to enjoy panoramic views. The expanse of the Arabian Sea had me hooked for a long time. Also, the Queen’s Necklace at night is nothing short of majestic from up here. The sea-view room is just awesome.

Compared to a few other states, I did find this room slightly compact, but I guess that’s a very common thing in Mumbai. The bathroom is slightly small but very well done. The Trident and Oberoi are connected from inside, and you can head to the poolside of the Opera and also walk around the rest of the hotel, and this is the Trident poolside. In terms of in-room dining, my experience was okay, and what I thoroughly enjoyed was the food at the Frangipani restaurant.

Another experience is their coffee shop with a lovely view of Nariman Point. It is a business and leisure hotel experience and easily one of the best locations in Mumbai. If you are getting a room here, then get one on higher floors, and if that doesn’t work out, then head to the 33rd floor and enjoy the rooftop views for sure.

A famous brand to reckon with in the hospitality space is The Leela, and the Mumbai property carries that resort vibe, which makes it perfect for a getaway within the city. When I booked a staycation for myself in this hotel, I was kind of expecting it to be more business-like but ended up being one of the chillest occasions of my life. The room is a pool-facing room on the Royal Club floor, and it is one of the higher floors, and it’s a cozy yet luxurious room. The bathroom is perfect with the bathtub, and I was honestly quite happy with the view as well.

In fact, I wasn’t expecting this much greenery, and when I walked around the property, I was like yes, this feels like a vacate. For me, the food here is one of the best you can find in the city, and I tried so many different kinds of dishes Asian, salads, parathas, pizza, and everything was enjoyable. A pool-view room would cost you upward of rupees 8,000 a night, and in my opinion, if you want an indulgent stay and want to make a staycation feel like a vacation with a bit of greenery within the city, then definitely check out The Leela.

In terms of food, hospitality, this hotel is definitely up there for me, and don’t forget to click pictures in the hotel lobby. It’s beautifully done with all the golden lights, the fountains, the waterfalls, giving it a very exquisite feel. Also, location-wise, this is super close to the airport, and if you are on a short trip or a frequent flier, this will suit you perfectly.

5. Renaissance Powai Hotel

  • Good breakfast

When it comes to a lake view in Mumbai, there isn’t a lot, but the Renaissance property in Powai does give a glimpse of that experience in Mumbai. They don’t have too many lakeview rooms, but if you are planning to stay here, try to get a lake-facing room because it’s an uncommon thing here. It costs upwards of rupees 8,000, and the room itself is quite huge. In fact, it’s one of the biggest five-star rooms I’ve stayed in. It has a work desk and also massive windows along with a couch to enjoy this view.

Chai and the view hits different. In terms of food, you’ll find it all at the restaurant, but for me, the breakfast buffet here is really good. What I like about the Renaissance is that it offers that business hotel vibe, conference rooms, work areas, and more, and it also serves a great location for events, parties, and weddings. They have quite a bit of open-air space overlooking the Powai Lake, and that can make for a great backdrop for any special occasion.

If you are coming to Mumbai on a tour, then the Powai area is quite different look and feel-wise from the rest of Mumbai. So maybe you’d like that aspect as well.

6. JW Marriott Juhu

One thing Mumbai is associated with is Chowpatty and the beach while Chaupati is originally more SoBo. Juhu Beach is a buzzing landmark on the other side of Mumbai that is called suburbs and while Juhu Beach is filled with hotels that have quite an interesting view, the one that takes the cake is JW Marriott.

This was one of the first few marine properties in Mumbai and till date is famous for its buffet and brunch menu. The breakfast buffet is enjoyable, and the spread is perfect for variety lovers. What’s interesting is that one can access Juhu Beach directly from the hotel itself, and it was like a private entry and exit point. A sunset view from here is priceless, and the beach is pulsating with people across ages enjoying an evening out with their loved ones. The pool area of this Marriott is one of the most beautifully done pools I’ve seen in Mumbai.

They actually have multiple big and small pools, and honestly, this is perfect for a sundowner or a pool party. I stayed here with a view of the pool and a bit of beach, and this is like a super nice view to enjoy. The room itself feels a tad bit dated if I compare it to other properties. If you want to see the beachy side of Mumbai and an area that’s really popular shopping-wise, restaurant-wise, and even frequented by the who’s who of Mumbai, then Juhu is a good option. And if you want to book this kind of room, then it would cost you rupees 15,000 per night and up.

7. ST Regis Mumbai

  • Good lunch

Coming to the new-age commercial hub of Mumbai, the Lower Parel area, and probably the only 5-star hotel here, Saint Regis. This is also the only hotel in Mumbai that’s connected to a huge mall that is the Phoenix Mills and Palladium Mall. And it provides for a stellar shopping experience. High-end brands or high street options, restaurants, theaters, This mall has it all, definitely worth a visit if you love to shop.

Coming back to the Regis, I recommend rooms on higher floors. Most of them don’t have a great view, but I believe some do have a view of the sea in the distance. The rooms are very well-made offering comforts of a luxury business hotel. And what is interesting is their bathroom; it spells richness in the way it’s done. Fancy mirrors, a giant bathtub, and a cabinet full of toiletries and essentials. I also love that the room has a window seat.

Feels great to sit here and enjoy tea and cakes. The pool area here is on the lower floor, and they tried to make it feel like a mini infinity pool with a lot of chill space around. Saint Regis is known for its buffets, and in fact, their lunch buffet comprises of all you can eat across seven different cuisines in their signature restaurant Seven Kitchens. This is where I enjoyed breakfast, which in my opinion, was one of the best ones I’ve tried among so many different staycations. A room here approximately costs upwards of rupees 10,000. I recommend their lunch buffet or brunch or taking a package that includes breakfast.
